Special tour “Kratts, Bogeymen and Dog-Headed People”, or a glimpse into the mystical world of Estonians’ folk beliefs
Today, Estonians believe in whatever they choose. Some find comfort in esoteric beliefs, others go to church, and still others worship nature.
But what did Estonians rely on in the old days, and why? The harvest had to depend on something, illnesses had to have a cause, and someone had to be in control of the weather.
With no scientific explanations, no television, and no internet, people looked to the supernatural to explain everything that happened in the world. You had to keep the house spirit on your side so your home wouldn't burn down, make offerings to Mother Earth so there would always be bread on the table, and much more. To ward off imps and devils, protective signs had to be put up everywhere.
You will hear all about it on an atmospheric guided walk.
